Words Hurt

This is the most controversial strip so far, and it focuses on Twipsy's past history as a mascot for a World's Fair in Hannover, Germany, in the year 2000. If you know your world's fair history, you may remember that Twipsy was brought to existence to be a playful representative of the Expo, and in turn, be a marketable fellow for plush toys and souvenirs. Even an animated series focused on Twipsy's backstory, and especially trying to reflect the "innovative" aspect of the Expo.

However, you may remember that not many people appreciated Twipsy for the unsustainable beauty he was worth — some say he was too abstract, some say he looked like roadkill, and some even mentioned that he was just too confusing or ugly.

I decided to focus the strip on just how emotionally affected by such comments Twipsy would have been, as I had discussed it with saradrawing through notes. In fact, anyone familiar with the concept of cyber bullying — the act of demeaning postings or comments against a targeted user — will definitely relate to just how damaging such comments would be.

Twipsy isn't always perfect, but at least some of us still have a heart for the cubist cybermessenger anyway.
